Painting Defects

Clouding

Description of problem:
Clouding occurs because of the uneven distribution of the metallic flakes.  This phenomenon creates some dark spots and is called clouding.

Causes:
Spraying viscosity.
Spraying technique and pressure.
Spray gun set up.
Unsuitable thinner.
Unsuitable spraying temperature.
Flash off time incorrect.

Preventive measures:
Adjust material viscosity, spray gun set-up spraying technique (Keep gun perpendicular to panel), flash off time and pressure.
Use recommended thinner.
In the case of monocoat 2K metallic, you may apply a mist coat immediately after the last spray coat.

Remedy:
Spray and repaint.
